Garzed LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the Garzed application at garzed.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
Account information: Your name and email address, provided through Google sign-in or email magic link authentication.
Garden data: Garden names, plot configurations, crop selections, watering schedules, and automation settings you create within the app.
Sensor and hardware data: Soil moisture readings, weather station data (temperature, humidity, wind, rain), and valve activity collected from your Ecowitt and Rachio devices via their APIs. This includes your hardware API credentials, which we store to operate the service on your behalf.
Location data: Your ZIP code, used to determine your USDA hardiness zone, frost dates, and local weather forecasts.
Usage data: Interactions with Garzed Bot (conversation history) and notification preferences.
We use your data to operate the service: triggering automated watering based on sensor readings, generating weather-aware recommendations, sending notifications about your garden, and powering Garzed Bot with context about your garden's current conditions. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data required for each service to function.
When you chat with Garzed Bot, your garden context (sensor readings, crop data, weather conditions) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Conversation history is stored in your browser session and is not permanently retained on our servers. Anthropic's data retention policies apply to API requests.
If you enable push notifications, we store a subscription endpoint provided by your browser. This is used solely to deliver notifications about your garden (moisture alerts, frost warnings, watering events). You can disable notifications at any time in Settings.
We retain your account and garden data for as long as your account is active. Sensor readings and watering logs are retained indefinitely to support season-over-season analysis. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., average moisture curves by soil type) may be retained.
We do not store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely through Google OAuth or email magic links. Hardware API credentials are stored encrypted in our database. All communication with the app is encrypted via HTTPS.
You can request a copy of your data or request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. If you are in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to restrict processing.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify active users of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
